The Older Client

As a low impact form of exercise, and because most of the exercises are performed lying down or in a sitting position, Pilates is a particularly beneficial form of exercise for the older client.  As people get older, muscular strength, balance and co-ordination naturally deteriorates.  Pilates can greatly enhance the quality of life of an older person by strengthening the ligaments, tendons and joints, improving balance and helping to maintain good posture.  It is also a great method of rehabilitation from procedures such as hip replacement or knee surgery.
